Do you feel that life is at a crossroads? You’ve done all the right things in your life, and yet one day you wake up and ask yourself “How the hell did I get here”? Why did I choose ________________ for my life? (fill in the blank)

I am tired of fighting for things that I don’t even recall why I wanted them in the first place. I feel like life has become something different than what I wanted for me. I just want to feel alive again!

So … now what?!?

Way of the Heart  is an opportunity to pause … and begin to connect to the deeper voice of wisdom within you, the voice of your heart. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to “Way of the Heart Retreat”.

Why a Retreat

Retreat – what’s the point? To some it may seem self-indulgent or an “escape from the real world.” Others might find it simply foreign and have no idea what to expect in going to a retreat. Retreats have been valued by all cultures for thousands of years and there are as many reasons to take retreat as there are people choosing to do so.

Creating time in your busy life to go on Retreat is gifting yourself a pause. A retreat is a nourishing “time-out”; a time to rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit; to re-connect with your authentic self; to re-connect with nature; to reassess what you truly value; all creating space for what’s possible.

The following statement by the great spiritual teacher Jiddu Krishnamurti may provide some guidance to those considering attending this retreat:

“I think it is essential sometimes to go into retreat, to stop everything that you have been doing, to stop your beliefs and experiences completely and look at them anew, not keep on repeating like machines whether you believe or don’t believe. You would let fresh air into your minds.

Your experience

See – The journey begins by looking inward towards your heart. When you can see your truest self you will know what is important to you. The very things you find in your heart will be your guide on this journey. You will start be exploring your heart and finding what is important to you.

Hear – Hearing is your ability to listen to the wisdom of your heart.  We will explore how we all respond in very human ways to all that we encounter. You will start to see where you are in order to choose from a more heart centred place.

Trust – How often have you taken the time to hear your life’s story? To step into all the beauty, messiness and adventure of what makes you who you are today? Knowing who you are now, will help you as you step into the next chapter of your life.

Understand – Life is a choice that is constantly being created. When you understand where you are, only then are you able to write the next chapter. The path is yours for the choosing.

Your guides

Mike Edwards, CPCC

When I listen to my heart I get the most precious gift in this world; freedom. Freedom to follow what is important to me. Freedom from the masks I used to wear through life. Freedom from trying to figure out what I’m supposed to be. It’s an amazing feeling to be free, making life so much easier.

I am humbled and honoured to work with people who are passionate about transforming their lives. We take this important work outdoors as much as possible, as it becomes much easier to focus on what’s possible.

I am excited to have this opportunity, along with my partner Shelley, to work with you on what I know will be a transformative week-end for all of us.

Shelley Schanzenbacher, CPCC

Shelley has proven success and a passion for partnering with organizations to build collaborative and healthy relationships.

As a coach Shelley is a partner that helps people step back to get a fresh perspective and look at new alternatives. Shelley considers herself a student of conversation, she believes that every conversation holds deep learning and value.

Shelley has a strong belief in “building space where wisdom can be openly spoken”~~ Rumi.

Reasons you may NOT want to attend

We know you may have read this page and still have doubts. We totally understand as attending a retreat is hard work, although for those who make this investment in their lives, it will be transformative. In case, you need a few more reasons not to attend we’ve added a few of our favourites (yes we’ve used these ourselves in the past):

  • Sure you feel stuck but you’re happy so what’s the point
  • You have too much work to be able to afford the time for a weekend away
  • You believe a part of having a career, is putting up with the Monday-Friday routine
  • You believe retreats are only for tree huggers
  • Vulnerability is for the weak
  • You believe it would be selfish to attend a retreat and be away from your family for the weekend
  • <insert your excuse here>

The truth is there are lots of excuses and no reasons to miss this opportunity.
